OVERVIEW

The Young African Leaders Journal of Development (YALJOD) is a scholarly publication associated with the Young African Leaders Forum (YALF), which aims to provide a platform for young African researchers, scholars, and practitioners to share their research findings, insights, and perspectives on development issues in Africa.

Origins and Establishment

YALJOD was established to address the need for a dedicated academic and professional platform where young African leaders and researchers could publish their work and contribute to the discourse on development in Africa. The journal was initiated as part of YALF’s broader mission to empower young African leaders and promote sustainable development across the continent.

The idea for YALJOD was conceived by Prince Ifoh and the leadership team of YALF, recognizing the importance of research and evidence-based policy-making in driving development. YALJOD was officially launched in 2016, providing a platform for young African academics and professionals to publish their research and ideas.

Development and Growth

The first editions of YALJOD focused on key development themes such as governance, economic development, education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability. Contributors included young scholars, researchers, and practitioners from various African countries and the Diaspora, reflecting the diverse perspectives and experiences of the continent’s youth.

Editorial Board and Peer Review Process

YALJOD established an editorial board composed of experienced academics, researchers, and development practitioners who oversee the publication process. A rigorous peer review process was implemented to ensure the quality and credibility of the articles published in the journal.

Key Milestones and Achievements

Over the years, YALJOD has gained recognition as a reputable journal that contributes to the body of knowledge on African development issues. The journal has published numerous articles that have influenced policy discussions, academic debates, and development practices across the continent.

YALJOD has organized conferences and symposia where authors and researchers can present their work, engage in discussions, and network with other professionals. These events have provided valuable opportunities for young researchers to gain exposure and feedback on their work.
